about

“The Letter” is the latest single from North London’s Aurora Dee Raynes, taken from their debut album ‘Invisible Things’ (out 26th November). The track follows singles “Crazy That You Love” and “Find My Way” which have garnered support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Huey Morgan and Tom Ravenscroft (BBC 6Music), Bandcamp Weekly, Clash Magazine, THUMP, Stereofox, Laurent Garnier, Toshio Matsuura, NTS and Spotify (Jazz UK).

Opening track of ‘Invisible Things’, “The Letter” looks at the importance of honesty in emotional, complex relationships. With a sparse, funky intro, the track’s layers develop and shift up and down, bringing you back around again, as though the listener is caught in the most fraught and personal conversation between a couple. “The power in the song and the strength in the vocals are me becoming/being that powerful woman. Telling you how it is...” vocalist Danielle Kranendonk explains. “If you don’t have transparency in any relationship - open or closed - you’re not being true to yourself or them”.

Alongside the digital release of ‘Invisible Things’, “The Letter” will be available alongside “Crazy That You Love” on a limited 500 run, double A-side 7” (out 26th November). The 7" sees the singles pressed to vinyl for the first time, and the physical release includes a download card featuring the album in full.
